Book Description

SURVEYING: PRINCIPLES & APPLICATIONS, 9/e is the clearest, easiest to understand, and most useful introduction to surveying as it is practiced today. It brings together expert coverage of surveying principles, remote sensing and other new advances in technological instrumentation, and modern applications for everything from mapping to engineering. Designed for maximum simplicity, it also covers sophisticated topics typically discussed in advanced surveying courses.

This edition has been reorganized and streamlined to align tightly with current surveying practice, and to teach more rapidly and efficiently. It adds broader and more valuable coverage of aerial, space and ground imaging, GIS, land surveying, and other key topics. An extensive set of appendices makes it a useful reference for students entering the workplace.

Drawing on the author’s extensive field and classroom experience, the eighth edition of Surveying: Principles and Applications presents a clear discussion of surveying principles and applications for mapping and engineering surveys. Topics are presented with numerous real-world examples and illustrations bridging the gap from theory to the applied world of surveying. Three distinct sections present the reader with basic concepts (including distance measurement, leveling, and angles and directions) as well as more advanced topics such as satellite imagery, highway curves, hydrographic surveys, and more!

Nailed It!
By Ewitz

This textbook is exceptional. I am new to surveying and was using another textbook in my first surveying class. That textbook was very difficult to understand and seemed to be geared toward someone who was already a civil engineer. This text however is very well written and easy to understand. It follows a logical progression through the subject matter unlike the other one that was constantly having you jump from one chapter to another. The examples and sample problems are well thought out and easy to work through. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in studying surveying. Looking forward to the new edition.

It measures up.

If found this text to be quite clear. The examples made sense and were provided in good quantity. The explanations were understandable and informative. The problems seemed to be good practice. I would certainly recommend this book.

Purchase of Surveying: Principles and Applications
By Stephen R. Josephson

As usual, always a pleasant experience working with Amazon and their customers.

Have had fairly good luck over recent years while purchasing textbooks for my classes and this case is no different. Prompt delivery, product was as advertised, accounting was straight forward with no surprises, just how I like it. Would recommend this system of textbook purchases to everyone within earshot.

Thanks much.
